CRTA President and CEO Brings Broad International Perspective to Canadian Resort and Travel Association.
Canadian Resort and Travel Association (CRTA), the industry-based trade association dedicated to furthering Vacation Ownership in Canada and throughout the world, has a new leader who is shaping its vision and perspective. The goal, under Gaetan’s leadership of what was once a consortium of Canadian-based resorts, is to become a truly international organization. CRTA is dedicated to build membership among resorts whose owner base reflects a high percentage of Canadians.
CTRA’s membership base consists of Resorts, Timeshares, Vacation Clubs, Developers, HOAs, Exchange Companies, Management Companies, Financial Servicing Companies, Resale Companies, Marketing Companies, Suppliers as well as other Industry Associations and Professionals who offer their services within the industry.
Gaetan Babin RRP, CRTA Chairperson, President, and CRTA CEO, has been active in the Vacation Ownership Industry for nearly three decades. His personal-professional goal has been to better the timeshare industry by implementing successful and ethical processes in development, corporate structure, operation, sales, and marketing. His passion for the industry is contagious and he plans to use his industry knowledge and experience to add value, integrity, and transparency to CRTA’s industry partners.
A French Canadian by birth, Gaetan was the successful sales director of Aviawest Resorts on Vancouver Island (in British Columbia, Canada) for a decade. The dynamic leader had a similar role for nearly eight years at Wyndham Reef Resorts in Grand Cayman Island. For the past three years he was managing director of G. Babin Consulting Ltd. In the Cayman Islands.
“I love this industry,” says Gaetan. “We know that close to half a million Canadian timeshare owners have purchased in North America including Mexico and the Caribbean. My fellow Canadians love to get out of chilly temperatures here and travel to warmer climates in the Caribbean, U.S. and Mexico. When I lived and worked in the Caribbean it became clear that the most successful vacation ownership resorts were those who could assure their members and owners of the safety and security of their purchase. Our goal is to create a CRTA Standard of Excellence, so that consumers and developers alike are protected.”
On a personal level, Gaetan is a talented musician, avid golfer and overall sports enthusiast. He is a devoted father and has been married 35 years to Lorraine and father of Marc and Chantal. He has recently spent his summers on his ancestral property in Eastern Canada where he is building a home on what was once his great grandfather’s homesite.
“Family and family vacations are monumentally important. In this phase of my career, I want to play a part in ensuring that families can enjoy their vacations without concern. CRTA is positioned to provide some of this level of protection.”
The Canadian Resort & Travel Association
CRTA is an industry association that is dedicated to furthering the ownership-based vacation and resort development industry, both at home and abroad. The association was founded in 1980 as “The Resort Timesharing Council of Canada” in response to the public’s demand for more information about vacation ownership. Since then, CRTA has become the preeminent industry association representing all forms of Vacation Ownership in Canada. The Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors. We regularly host stimulating conferences, symposiums and committee meetings that encourage B-2-B opportunities, networking, education, and problem solving among our members.
